Volunteer Opportunities
Experience the many rewards of volunteering! Why volunteer with TLC Meals on Wheels?
Whether you work in the kitchen preparing meals, deliver meals to our clients, conduct interviews in our office or host a food drive, your work has an immediate impact on the communities we serve. You can choose to volunteer once a week or once a month. We have volunteers who are preschool aged through their 90’s, some who just recently started volunteering, others have volunteered for decades.
“It’s the hugs and the wonderful people that keep me driving. I feel so appreciated.”
Looking for volunteer opportunities for families?
Our clients love children! We welcome young family members to help deliver meals during the week (Mon-Fri), groceries on the first Saturday of the month, as well prepare tray favors for special holidays.
Community Engagement for Corporate, Service or Church Groups
Adopt a Route
Adopt a route one day a week, providing group members the opportunity to rotate driving from week to week.
Make Holiday Themed Trays
Make holiday themed trayfavors or decorative gifts. Our clients love the surprise and the favor helps them remember the holiday. Call beforehand for opportunities.
General Yard Work for TLC Clients
Are your employees tired of sitting at a desk? Help our clients with general yard work – leaf raking, flower bed clean-up etc… Depending on the yard we can use 5-10 volunteers per yard, 2-3 hours that fit your schedule. We are able to use everyone on the same day and in the same neighborhood (maybe even close to your office) if this would interest you. We plan to schedule these activities on the fall and spring depending on weather.
This is a great project for larger groups.
Youth Service Opportunity
This is perfect opportunity for scouts or church youth groups to learn about senior hunger and how they can help. You provide the ingredients to make trail mix or a no-bake food item, sandwich bags, and craft supplies if you choose to make cards. The kids can work in our kitchen to assemble the items with the help of a TLC staff member, package into bags, and make cards to send out to our clients. Hours preferred M-F 2:30-6pm or Saturday mornings.
Corporate Team Building in the TLC Kitchen
Have your team work alongside our Chef in the TLC Meals on Wheels kitchen. Learn about our program and how we support local seniors while learning to cook a new meal. Cost of activity: price of food purchased by TLC Meals on Wheels for meal. Hours preferred M-R, 2-5 pm.
Food and Paper Product Drives
We deliver 2 bags of groceries to approximately 130 seniors monthly and we are always in need of non-perishable food items and paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, and Kleenex). We also deliver cat/dog food, treats, and cat litter to those in need. We share what we have. Host a Drive in your office or at an event and then send 5-10 volunteers to stock the shelves. Your group can also volunteer to help deliver groceries the second Saturday of every month.
